You know, something just occurred to me...
The Density is supposed to be farting Stargates into the void, right?
So why are there obviously-ancient old-skool Stargates on The Planet Of The Air-Scrubbers and like that?
Also, what keeps them from dialling home on any of them?
Lastly, if someone else says "We're Not Supposed To Be Here" I shall do something dramatic.

on 2009-10-24 08:06 pm (UTC)Reaching another galaxy (and they're many galaxies away) requires far more power than is available on your standard stargate. It requires a ZPM (an Ancient uber-battery) or two. Or a whole planet devoted to powering the gate, as in the pilot of this execrable series.
So they can't just dial home. The ship was running on fumes when they arrived. Or they couldn't before the ship charged up its power cells. They'd damn well better TRY in the next episode, though.

on 2009-11-02 06:19 am (UTC)Seriously, though. I don't believe that crap about them being billyuns and billyuns of galaxies away. The Ancient Communication Stones work just fine, and even though we've seen them used intergalactically [TPTB apparently believe a "galaxy" is something about the size of Ottawa], there are limits...
