and in other news "they" are going to put out half of the episodes of SGU on DVD when they blame bad DVD sales on not putting out a 3rd SG-1 movie or even a SGA one.

At least, in this case, they already have the product in hand and only have the cost of manufacturing and marketing the DVDs to consider - they'll undoubtedly recoup that. Creating a movie and hoping it would sell enough DVD copies to cover the production costs and make a few bucks would be another kettle of fish.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was common for SyFy to release seasons in halves when it comes to DVDs- better monetization. (Assuming someone wants to spend money on this dreck, which seems incredible.)

It isn't something they did with SG-1, so it must be a new thing.

No, that they didn't... I have all the seasons and movies :) (Feel free to point and laugh, but I love my show- one of the reasons this show pisses me off so much.)

If you're of a mind to, Seasons 8 and 9 are on Hulu right now along with 1-7, and they're all the time changing what they offer- 10 was available at one time, it may be again before too long :)

Hee, yeah. I've never seen the series myself, but I've seen some people complaining about it, and Amazon's full of the abbreviated seasons. It looks like they also put out full length season versions, and at least one full series version, but it looks like they only did that really after most likely customers had already bought the half seasons.
