Found this in Blast Magazine online and had to share. Here are two excerpts:

"We get it. They’re in space. It’s dark. It’s a big freaking void. But I’m so sick of the “Stargate Universe” crew facing imminent death at every foreseeable turn. Can we start watching the show now? Please?"

and

"There’s also just — I never thought I’d actually say this — there’s too much sexual tension. It seems like any 10 characters are just going to drop down and bang at any given moment. Stargate Orgy, anyone?"

The full article is Stargate Universe: Starting To Get Sick of Imminent Death. It's short and sweet, but full of heartfelt emotion. :D

My favorite line from the article...

"Although we knew they would go there, because Brad Wright and company stopped writing new show ideas sometime around 2001. "

I wouldn't mind it so much if they'd actually get off their asses and try to save themselves. So far, the only halfway-useful person in those terms seems to be Lieutenant Scott, and even he needed Swirly Alien help. I suppose Eli gets a thumbs-up as well. So far all everyone else has done yell, sit around uselessly, or be helpful at things that aren't actually killing them.

Also, the "flying into the sun" thing really isn't much good for tension, since it's pretty much a classic way to refuel your never-stopping spaceship.

Well...that, and the fact that we, the audience, know damn well that they're not going to destroy the ship or kill everyone off. Thus, there's no tension. Especially since we seem to be way ahead of the characters in thinking about what else might be going on. Given that I'm not an astrophysicist or a super-genius, and they (allegedly) are--that makes them look Too Stupid To Live.

Well, it seemed weird at the time, but in "Darkness" James said in her little video message that she was a second lieutenant. So there is a slight rank difference there, I don't think there's any reason to believe that she was actually in his chain of command until they ended up stuck on a ship together.

LOL! Interesting article! I miss the planet-of-the-week shows where each week we would see a new and different culture and something interesting happens.

That countdown to get back to the Gate is going to get very old, very fast.
