I think there's the seed of a fascinating story in this episode. Someone who's been a quadraplegic for all her adult life getting a chance to have a fully functional body for a while? That would interesting to see.
The rest of it, though? Bleah. I especially like the arguments that "it's not rape 'cause she won't know/remember it afterward!" Yeah, neither will someone who gets raped while she's unconscious from too much alcohol or being drugged with roofies. Guess what? It's still rape. Morons.
Now, they could do any number of interesting things with this premise if they were, say, COMPLETELY OTHER PEOPLE. Is the visiting scientist a living saint? Then she won't be using her furlough to drink and fuck. Is the visiting scientist the six-time winner of the Gaius Balthar Award? Then she might be torn between keeping a cute able body at the cost of being marooned on the Density, or going back to her differently-abled body and not being stuck on the Spaceship At The End Of The Universe. And what if she's struggling to adapt to a body that is more alien to her own than the usual transfer students and because of that, people are whinging and moaning that she won't be able to do what she's there to do?
But never mind, because they aren't going to do any of those stories.
