Mid-Season Two round-up

I'll just mention some of the things that really annoyed me in the last 4 episodes, cuz, ya know, if I went back any further I'd have to talk about "Cloverdale" which was BEYOND ANNOYING. Yeesh.

So, episode 2.07: AKA Eli gets some

Also: the return of Dr. Amanda Perry. They managed to avoid most of the FAIL we all feared in her initial appearance, when she was in Camile Wray's body. This time she's in the body of Eli's Lucian Alliance girlfriend. And Eli walks in on her smooching with Rush. Which leads to this OMGWTF line, when Eli says to Amanda: "You know, sometimes, with the stones, it's easy to forget you're in another person's body."

Yes, Eli (and dumbass writers) I am certain that as Amanda sits and breathes unaided, let alone standing, walking and using her arms and hands, SHE FORGETS SHE'S IN ANOTHER PERSON'S BODY.

2.08: AKA Women are disposable

Lucian Alliance badass Simeon kills the body of Eli's girlfriend. Earth reports the death of Dr. Perry's body. It's a twofer! (Actually I believe that there are plans afoot to bring one of these women back. Maybe the stones store one consciousness in this kind of situation. Who knows.) Rush tracks down Simeon and kills him, in spite of the fact that Simeon has information about the planned LA attack on Earth.

Guess we'll never know if Simeon could've been induced to talk. Rush, as usual, believes in unilateral decision making.

2.09: AKA Baby? What baby?

Okay, this is actually not a bad story. I can take the baby!drama, and the religious talky-talk. I can't take the Chloe bits. With Eli, with Scott, with Greer. Oh, yes, please Greer. Kill her. Kill her dead. She already forgave you, what are you waiting for?

Also: the IOA taught Camile hypnosis? Yeaaaah, right.

2.10: How to fail at cliffhanging

Some potential here, but oh so badly done. Colonel Telford reappears like a deus ex machina and explains what happened with him and the aliens. LDP sounds like he's reading right from the script. Yes, exposition sucks. But. Better writing and directing would bring a better performance from the actor. Just sayin'.

Plus, with most of this episode being about the aliens, WE NEVER SEE THEM. No CGI left in the budget? Poor planning, boys.

Eli is stupid and Chloe's all alien-y and on the loose. I've always hated her, but I liked her better when she didn't have a storyline.

The great Carlyle delivers the final line of the episode BADLY. Not badly if there were more scenes after his line, or if the show was continuing next week. Quite badly if it's meant to signal a mid-season cliffhanger. No emphasis or sense of alarm. Bleh.

I am so impressed with your ability to keep watching. I tried. I really tried. But it was simply too painful
