The sheer level of hackery by these writers is just... depressing.
The sad thing is, I went back and watched seasons nine and ten of SG1 again, and there was an undercurrent of poor writing that was there if you were willing to look hard enough. Thing is, the writers didn't get away with as much bad writing as they could have because some really strong actors (not to mention Pentagon advisors) were in their way, saying "No my character/a member of the armed forces would not act like this".
The original incarnation of Vala and Daniel hooking up is the most recent example, but thankfully Michael Shanks and Claudia Black stuck to their guns and wouldn't do the scene unless it was done in a way that was real. However, Carter's "reproductive organs" line at the very start of the series is a perfect example of how this crap has always been there. Of course, back then Amanda Tapping (more like Amanda Tap-that, amirite?!) was still just an unknown actress in her first big pilot, and while by her own admission she hated having to say the lines, she was no Richard Dean Anderson and didn't have the presence yet to stand up to the writers and make the character her own. Yet.

Now we're on SG-Ew, where the actors are mostly either young and inexperienced or washed-up and happy for the work. There's also no Pentagon advisor (though given the obvious contempt for the military, I'm guessing they instead have an Al-Qaeda advisor) and nobody is willing to stand up to the writers and say for God's sake, cut it the fuck out!
